A Different Way to Understand Your Cycle

Your menstrual cycle is more than your period. It’s a rhythm that can offer insight into your energy, emotions, needs, and changing body.

It’s All Hormonal was created to make menstrual education feel accessible, empowering, and connected—bringing together modern understanding with the wisdom women have carried for generations.

I’m Amanda Balbuena, an IMH-C Certified Women’s Health Coach, and I created this space to help girls and women better understand their cycles at every stage of life.

A first period is a big milestone—and knowing what to expect can make it feel a lot less overwhelming.

This approachable guide helps young people prepare for their first period with clear, reassuring information about what’s happening in their body, what supplies they may need, how they might feel, and what to expect when the day arrives.

Whether you’re preparing for your own first period or helping someone you love prepare for theirs, this guide is designed to make the transition feel informed, supported, and empowering.

Is it gross?

Nope! It might seem messy sometimes, but it’s just your body doing something amazing.

Your Inner Seasons

Your menstrual cycle is constantly shifting—and those hormonal changes can influence everything from energy and mood to appetite, focus, sleep, and how you relate to the world around you.

The Inner Seasons framework offers a simple way to explore the four phases of your cycle and begin noticing your own patterns—without expecting every cycle or every person to feel exactly the same.

Menstrual Phase

You may notice feeling drained or quiet, sensitive to noise and stimulation, emotionally tender, reflective, in need of solitude or comfort

Follicular Phase

You may feel refreshed, mentally clear, hopeful, excited to connect, ready to try new things

Ovulation

You may feel charismatic, enthusiastic, confident, magnetic, aligned with others, full of momentum

Luteal Phase

You may notice yourself feeling sensitive, easily overstimulated, hyper-aware, drawn inward, craving control or clarity

Experiences from the Community

Don’t take our word for it – here’s what our clients say:

Growing up, topics about women’s health always felt awkward to talk about, so I never felt comfortable asking questions. Amanda has helped change that by creating such a welcoming, judgment-free space where young women can learn without feeling embarrassed. She has made conversations that once felt taboo feel normal, and I’m so grateful for the support and encouragement she gives to women like me.

Do you sometimes have the feeling that you’re running into the same obstacles over and over again? Many of my conflicts have the same feel to them, like “Hey, I think I’ve been here before”
